Midwest Living Review
Bay City's Water Street is home to an entire city block (and then some) housing the largest antiques mall in Michigan. Making good use of renovated warehouse space, the Bay Antique Center and the Bay City Antiques Center/Downtown Antiques Market (separate entities situated next to one another) present a huge variety of antique furniture, household items such as stoves and bathtubs, sheet music, clothing, dolls, you name it. While not usually a fan of antiques, we found the mall fascinating and could have spent hours here. Particularly interesting to us Baby Boomers were the midcentury modern items for sale -- the starburst clocks, low-slung sofas, pole lamps, cocktail sets, it brought back a lot of memories. The merchandise is often creatively displayed with prices clearly marked. There are additional, smaller antiques stores scattered throughout downtown Bay City. For the true antiques buff, this must be nirvana!
