Midwest Living Review
Located within a Topeka warehouse district, PT’s Coffee Roasting Company offers tours showcasing the work of a company with clients across the country and around the world.
What began with two guys and two coffee shops has grown far beyond the initial game plan to create the ultimate cup of joe. Handling all its on-site coffee roasting and packaging, PT’s is a stickler for quality, requiring that each batch of product be fully assessed for aroma and flavor before it ever reaches the bag. This Kosher-certified business is committed to Direct Trade principles, sustainable-quality coffee and responsible community practices. PT’s also offers an extensive barista training program, turning out graduates like one-time employee Pete Licata, winner of the 2013 World Barista Championship held in Melbourne, Australia.
A $10 tour provides a brief look at how small roasters like this are making big waves in the coffee world. You may even get to participate in the “cupping" process—slurping small samples of coffee to aerate the brews and taste the flavors most accurately. You’ll definitely get a 12-ounce bag of premium PT's coffee to take home.
