Midwest Living Review
Esquina serves authentic Mexican food with flair and speed. We love the restaurant's hot salsa-colored decor and steely industrial-chic lighting. A big bar is up front. For food, head toward the chalkboard menus hanging over the back order counter. Choose from lots of appetizers, salads, combo meals and beverage choices, including beers and margaritas. The tri-taco combo runs $7.95; individual tacos, $3.50. Pick from eight chicken, veggie, pork and beef fillings. We liked the chicken with sun dried tomato sauce and the Baja fish with ancho-lime coconut cream. Appetizer plates include coconut shrimp cocktail and quesadillas, $5 to $8. A half salad of pineapple, jicama and avocado ($4) makes a light, flavorful meal. Full entrees ($8 to $12 with a rice and bean side) include tostadas, chilaquiles tortilla casserole, burritos, enchiladas and paella. For dessert, enjoy sweet fried ice cream, creama catalane, bunuellos or sorbet, $4.
