Midwest Living Review
This strip-mall Mexican restaurant looks unexceptional from the outside, but it serves some really outstanding tacos. The secret might be the organic ingredients from regional farms. The la carte soft-shell chicken taco is enormous, filled with warm cheese and succulent meat that's a cut above the typical taco filler. And it costs a mere $4. When this restaurant started out, it was part of the small Rudy's chain based in the Quad Cities, but it's independent now. Once you get past its generic exterior, you'll find yourself in a clean, festive restaurant painted in bright colors and festooned with marionettes. Hot sauces and T-shirts are for sale, and there's a bar inside called the Lava Lounge.
