Midwest Living Review
One step inside Midtown Cafe on the Newton square and you might think you’ve been transported back to Grandma's house. That is, if your grandma had a country-style kitchen with lace curtains and walls covered in Americana-themed decoration—posters, flags and painted stars.
Midtown bustles during breakfast with locals of all ages enjoying biscuits and gravy, signature omelets and hash browns with cheese (breakfast items $5 to $9). Lunch options include tenderloins, grilled cheese sandwiches and burgers; dinner offers chopped steak, liver and onions, and chicken strips (all in a $7 to $12 range). Some folks stop in just to sit at the counter for coffee and a piece of pie. The food isn't anything fancy, but it is satisfying, well prepared and served with a smile.
