Midwest Living Review
Located on the University of Iowa campus, the family-friendly Museum of Natural History exhibits represent the state’s ecological history from 500 million years ago to present day. Displays include a vast insect collection, a hall of birds, a mammal hall filled with specimens from around the globe and a giant sloth named Rusty.
In the large auditorium, visitors watch educational videos as well as occasional just-for-fun film screenings. Check out the website for a calendar of special events.
The three-floor Museum of Natural History is open Tuesday through Saturday, closed Mondays and national holidays. Walk in to explore at your pace, or call ahead to arrange reservations for a free guided tour.
