Midwest Living Review
Louie D's offers a quick, not-quite-typical Philly cheese steak in downtown Des Moines. It finds its home in a food court beneath the Greater Des Moines Partnership building, flanked by Greek food and chicken but maintaining its own niche. Busiest over the lunch hour, Louie D's serves up freshly made Philly cheese steaks and hoagie sandwiches just the way you like em, each presented on an Amaroso's hoagie roll straight from Philly. The grilled Philly steaks and grilled chicken Philly's are filled with perfectly cooked, never greasy meat, though the toppings are less than the best. The sides include cottage cheese, potato salad, coleslaw and more typical sides of average quality.A quick and inexpensive meal, diners can expect to wait just a couple minutes for their food, with a combo meal in the reasonable range of about $8.00. Louie D's friendly staff and good food are open Monday through Friday, 10:30 am to 2:00 pm.
