Midwest Living Review
McCaffrey's Dolce Vita offers the region's only wood-fired-oven pizza. The menu focuses on flat, thin-crust pizzas that bake in just one to three minutes in the 750-degree oven. Each pizza serves two people and includes unusual (but tasty) topping combinations.
We enjoyed the Thai Kickin' Chicken pizza (peanut sauce with mozzarella cheese, teriyaki-grilled chicken, green onions, fresh tomato and basil) and the Greek pizza (garlic-infused olive oil, gyro meat, kalamata olives, tzatziki sauce, feta and mozzarella cheeses, tomato and red onion). The combos might sound weird, but they work. If you're in the mood for traditional pizza, look elsewhere.
The restaurant occupies a cabin-style building built around the wood-fired oven. It's in an out-of the-way spot: Turn into the entrance for an RV campground and follow a winding road through a tunnel to reach it. Get good directions before you go.
