Fall Kentucky Art Tour

By Lisa Meyers McClintick

Take a Midwestern scenic drive that's filled with places to shop for pottery, photography, glass, paintings and sculptures. Three pairs of Midwest Living(R) writers and graphic artists explored arts and crafts trails in Iowa, Michigan and Kentucky. For extra fun, each team carried a scavenger hunt list. Come along on their trips, and then check out their narrated photo slide shows. Feeling inspired? Print a blank copy of the scavenger hunt, so you and a friend can take your own creative drive.

Appalachian discovery

Associate Art Director Faith Berven and I spend three days driving through the Kentucky countryside around Berea, the state's arts and crafts capital. Along every highway, we spot tobacco barns. Peek inside, and you can see the golden leaves drying in long rows.
