Wait till your kids get a look at the pools in the Wisconsin Dells. At last count, some 17 motels in the popular south-central Wisconsin family vacation mecca included full-size indoor and outdoor water parks.
Little adventurers climb aboard a life-size pirate ship at Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park. Kids cavort on Gold Mine Mountain and float a lazy river at the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort. The newest water-park resort, Kalahari, transports you to Africa with themed rooms, artifacts and the Tanzanian Twister, a sort of giant funnel on which circling riders reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.
You shouldn't have too much trouble getting the little ones out of the water, though - the Dells is probably the most kid-friendly vacation spot in the Heartland. There's something to tempt them every few feet in this resort community, from go-cart tracks to drive-in theaters to horse stables to dozens of miniature golf courses.
