Midwest Living Review
The services in this lovely spa are hit-and-miss, but The Spa at West Baden is comfortable, the staff is friendly, and it's small size prevents you from feeling like you're in an assembly line. The French Lick area is famous for its mineral springs (claimed to heal and detoxify), which are used in the West Baden Signature Sprudel Bath (25 minutes/$40). We found the water smelly (even though artificial scents are added to cover the sulfur smell) and an unattractive yellow. The tub was too small to be comfortable, the music too loud and reading material limited. We kept wondering how much longer we had to sit there. The aromatherapy massage (50 minutes/$130) was equally disappointing. No attention was paid to our requests and the smell for the aromatherapy faded in minutes. Other guests enjoyed theirs, however, so maybe we got a masseuse on a bad day.A better investment is the Zents pedicure (50 minutes/$90). Sitting in one of just two overstuffed leather chairs that turn and tilt, you're ultracomfortable and relaxed as you flip through a magazine, chat with the good-humored staff and enjoy this top-of-the-line service.
