Midwest Living Review

Damaine Vonada
No one goes hungry at the Olde Richmond Inn, where large portions and the genteel ambience provide a satisfying dining experience.

At the Olde Richmond Inn, the daily specials are listed on a large white board discreetly displayed on an easel. But diners always know exactly what's cooking, because soon after they're seated, the efficient servers park the easel by the table. Located in a grand Gay Nineties house in one of Richmond, Indiana's most historic neighborhoods, the Olde Richmond Inn offers white-tablecloth dining in several separate rooms graciously appointed with stained-glass windows and period architectural details. The menu features traditional American fare, such as prime rib, lamb chops and roast duckling, but you can also choose from Italian classics like lasagna and linguini marina. But diners beware: The servings here are huge. The prices, which on the surface look expensive for Richmond (around $20 for an entree), are quite decent when you consider the portion sizes. Budget-conscious guests could easily split an entree and have just enough room left for a piece of the inn's signature peanut butter pie or creme brulee in a dish that looks as big as a cereal bowl.
