Midwest Living Review

This museum will test your mind and senses while helping you better understand the history of Indiana.

This family-friendly museum inspires a fresh appreciation for Indiana and its history. In addition to providing a great sense of place, the interactive features will entertain young and old for at least two hours. The first floor focuses on Indiana's environmental and geographical history. While watching a film on the region's geographic past, including its eons as an ancient ocean, you'll hear what sounds like a waterfall and smell a mist all around you--just one example of how the museum plays on your senses. The second floor highlights the history of Indiana's people. Here, you get a real sense of what life was like through the decades. You'll have the opportunity to take a whiff of spices used by pioneer women, learn about the railroads' impacts on the region, and hear from a slave trying to navigate his way in the underground railroad. This place is a must for history buffs or anyone interested in understanding Indiana's past and present. Admission charged.
