Midwest Living Review

Amy Lynch
Friendly service and superior sandwiches position Boogie Burgers head and shoulders above the usual fast food suspects.

Within tiny beach shack-style digs in the middle of landlocked Indianapolis, Boogie Burger serves gourmet spins on some of the tastiest burgers in town. Bar-hoppers, lunch patrons and families with kids all frequent this funky neighborhood stop in eclectic Broad Ripple Village to satisfy their burgers-and-fries cravings. Get here early if you plan to dine in -- indoor seating is at a premium; a seasonal patio expands the space during warm-weather months. Chicken sandwiches, grilled Ahi tuna, BLTs and a few salads are available, but the burgers are the stars of this show. A dozen choices run the gamut from a straight-up single ($3.99) to dressed-up variations like the "Wild Wild West" with cheddar, bacon, barbecue sauce and onion rings, or the "Maui Wowie" with ham, Swiss cheese and a slice of grilled pineapple (both $6.50). To round things out, Boogie Burger offers fries, onion rings and hand-dipped milkshakes. Our cheeseburger was tender, juicy and deliciously flavorful, a solid 1/3-pound patty of black Angus beef topped with fresh lettuce and a slice of tomato. Our companion's "Blue Moon" burger arrived dripping with melty blue cheese and topped with crispy bacon. One side order of perfectly adequate fries was more than enough for us to share. Prices here are slightly higher than what you'd pay for fast food, but the great quality, generous portions and competent service make Boogie Burger well worth the money.
