Midwest Living Review

Karen Sorensen
While a bit overpriced, The Grill is a comfortable downtown eatery for a bowl of chili, cheeseburger or even a steak.

In keeping with its unpretentious exterior among several little shops, The Grill (as much a bar as a restaurant) is the kind of comfortable spot where you can grab a beer and a plate of nachos or cheeseburger and know exactly what you're getting -- solid fare that's well-prepared and filling. You won't find menu surprises (other than the fact that they serve dinner entrees in addition to the standard lineup of appetizers, salads and sandwiches). They err toward comfort foods: grilled cheese (a good choice, by the way), meat loaf, fried chicken, chili. It's also the kind of place where you can bring the family for lunch or dinner and then return later for a drink with friends. In the summer, there's outdoor dining. The only criticism would be the prices, which, while not exorbitant, are probably a dollar or two more than we'd expect for this kind of place. Plan on paying $10-$12 for a salad, $6 for a bowl of soup, about $10 for a sandwich with fries, and $20 or more for entrees like ribs and steak.
