Midwest Living Review
Abraham and Mary Lincoln lived in this downtown Springfield home for 17 years. Now, hundreds of thousands of visitors come through the property annually to get an inside look at the life and times of our 16th president.
Admission is free, but tickets are required and issued on a first-come, first-serve basis (tours are limited to 17 visitors each). Things can get busy during the summer season; arrive early to pick up tickets at the Lincoln Home Visitors Center. The intriguing guided tours educate guests about the Lincoln family, Abe's rise to success as a lawyer and politician, and his presidential campaign. Free short films play every 30 minutes to orient visitors, and the historic four-block area surrounding the home is also worth strolling through—dial in to access free cell phone-guided info.
