The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum house a range of fascinating displays detailing the life and times of Honest Abe. For instance, a Tim Russert newscast dissects the four 1860 presidential candidates. A gallery features the faces of dozens of people arguing for and against emancipation. Kids often gape in disbelief at a re-creation of the one-room cabin where Lincoln and 10 of his family members once lived.
Somber rooms commemorate the Gettysburg Address and Lincoln's casket, and the dramatic Ghosts of the Library Holavision feature is a must-see. When the conversation gets a little too deep, Mrs. Lincoln's Attic makes a perfect retreat where kids can play with Lincoln Logs and try on period clothing.
Museum admission is $12 for adults, $9 for seniors and students, $6 for kids ages 5 to 15. No admission is charged to visit the library.
