Veterans Memorial Hall

President Theodore Roosevelt dedicated this hall to veterans in 1903, and all of the original velvet chairs from that ceremony are still here, along with some gorgeous woodworking. In the Great Hall, the walls are inscribed with the names of the Civil War battles where soldiers from Winnebago County fought. In the North West Placard Room, 13 bronze tablets list the names of local residents who fought in every war up to the present. Shields and badges from the Spanish War Veterans Association cover the walls of the Library. The Lincoln Lyceum on the second floor is a stunning, light-filled space with a huge skylight, a horseshoe-shape balcony and a stage.
