Midwest Living Review
While Galena's downtown more or less teems with options for lunch and dinner, finding a good spot for breakfast is tougher. The Courtyard--in a four-story atrium in the old-fashioned, elegant DeSoto House Hotel--may be your best bet. It serves simple but superb morning fare at eminently reasonable prices. The decor isn't anything fancy--just family-restaurant-style tables and chairs on a tile floor, with the juice dispenser and coffeemakers in plain sight--but the food is a cut above standard breakfast offerings. If you can spare the calories, the stuffed French toast, with orange-flavored cream cheese packed between slices, is an indulgent and awesome treat ($7). If that seems too extreme, convince someone else to order it so you can steal a bite, then go with the super-satisfying breakfast burrito ($8). Coffee refills are free and frequent, and you're likely to hear local folks meeting to discuss business while you linger.
