Midwest Living Review
If you're looking for gifts for children and children at heart, Poopsie's in downtown Galena is worth a visit. One half of the store is given over to kids' toys and games -- some educational, some creative and some just crazy/fun. It's a great mix, and as entertaining for adults to check out as kids. You'll find a lot of things that work on a couple of different levels. Our personal favorite: "Oh, Yuck," the encyclopedia of "everything nasty," which will gross you out while teaching you something at the same time. On the opposite side of the store is an eclectic selection of housewares, greeting cards, baby gifts, jewelry, reading glasses and other items, with prices that are all over the board. There's a huge display of Patricia Locke jewelry for example, running anywhere from $112 to $360, as well as mesh flower rings selling for $3.99. There are picture frames that cost $24.99 ... and $250. What we found most entertaining, however, were the whimsical, silly and gag gift items mixed right in with the inspirational magnets and candle holders. Things like serving utensils with stick-figure handles, ice cube forms in the shape of false teeth, clocks made out of silverware, soda can vases and smiley-face spreaders. Regardless of whether you buy anything or not, you'll find this place amusing.
