Midwest Living Review
After reading so much about Eagle Ridge being the top resort in Illinois, we weren't certain it could live up to its reputation. We needn't have worried; the amenities go far beyond just golf and spa treatments and its bucolic grounds go beyond impressive. Is it pricey? Yes. But this place is pretty much has it all, meaning you needn't even leave the grounds unless you want to. There's even a small "general store" that sells food and gas. You can golf to your heart's content and sample a full range of massages, facials and nail, energy and water "therapies." You can also take a dip in the indoor pool with retractable roof; try out the dry sauna, steam room and fitness center; and take a turn on the tennis or sand volleyball courts. What else? How about horseback riding, hot-air balloon rides, fishing, hiking, kayaking, bike rentals, and cross-country skiing, sledding and ice skating in the winter. You'll find three great restaurants on the property: Woodlands Restaurant and Lounge (inside the main building; lunch and breakfast, upscale dinner -- steaks, seafood), Woodstone Restaurant (formerly Spikes Bar and Grill; now a more family-oriented restaurant with sandwiches, pasta and wood-fired pizza) and Paisanos, which is mostly a pizza/Italian deli place with an ice cream counter. And speaking of options, you can stay in the main lodge or courtyard area or rent a condo, house or villa. Anyway you go, you'll be treated to tasteful, modern decor and top-notch facilities, including bedding that will have you sleeping like a baby.
