Midwest Living Review
This downtown Galena store is a delightful mishmash of items from around the world, some serious, some kitschy, some artsy, all nteresting to peruse. You might find Mexican Dia de la Muerta figurines and Lucha Libre mouse pads next to beautiful leather Indian wallets and intricately detailed Buddha statues. There large displays devoted to Celtic items, including wedding crosses, Trinity knot ornaments and prayer plaques; soapstone artwork from Kenya (some of which are as inexpensive as $5.98); and world music CDs. An entire wall holds an amazing array of colorful patchwork purses from Nepal, and you'll find lots of men's and women's attire, including hand-stitched sweaters and Hawaiian shirts. Among our favorite items were "recycled" housewares -- bowls, trays, baskets and such -- made from discarded plastic wrappers. The best feature, however, might be the prices. You'll find lots of bargains among the diverse merchandise. Examples: A recycled Coke can bag goes for just $12.98; a Loteria serving bowl from Mexico is $9.98; and sterling silver Celtic design earrings start at $13.98.
