Midwest Living Review
With more than 24 million artifacts in its collection, this must-see museum in Chicago focuses on connecting people with the planet's past. Visitors should plan on spending an entire day here to truly enjoy the multiple exhibits; even if you've seen the permanent displays, the temporary exhibitions create the buzz that keeps bringing people back. Rightfully so; we visit the Field Museum every year and always walk out in wonderment, our brains brimming with new lessons and thoughts. One of our favorite permanent exhibits, the "Evolving Planet," takes you step-by-step through the history of evolution and manages to engage even the most jaded visitors. Kids will love the dinosaur skeleton room, where they can get up close to these massive creatures. Admission starts at $23 for adults and $13 for children (not Chicago residents) but is worth every penny. The Field Museum is part of the CityPass program, which offers reduced-price admission to six big Chicago attractions. Also, we found that the membership to our local science center also grants us admission to the Field Museum (and the nearby Museum of Science and Industry).
