These stacked burgers might blow your budget, but if you've got a serious craving, they're worth it.

Rockit Bar and Grill in Chicago's trendy River North neighborhood is a definite hipster burger-lover's destination. The industrial-chic bar-restaurant has decor designed by Oprah's style-maker Nate Berkus and exudes a sleek, rock-star-cool vibe. Patrons flip through chef James Gottwald's extensive lunch and dinner menus of sandwiches, entree salads and dinner steak, chop and seafood selections bookended by classic album covers. Cocktail and martini names read like a rock band's play list: Sunglasses at Night, Dirty Girl Scout, Smashing Pumpkin and The Cure. But Rockit's eight char-grilled beef burgers are the menu's greatest hits. More like a steak than a burger, the headliner Kobe beef Rockit Burger is wicked good. It's topped with melted Brie, fried shallots and medjool date aioli, then stacked on a toasted red-onion brioche bun and sided with flavor-packed truffle fries. The $19 price tag is pretty steep, but once you take a bite of this smoky, juicy burger, you won't care. There's also black Angus beef burgers, turkey burgers, pork patties, BBQ red bean vegetarian burger and a lobster burger ($11 to $21) on the menu. All of the fist-thick sandwiches are accompanied by regular french fries, but sweet potato, truffle and cheese fries cost more, as do extra toppings including buttermilk, blue or goat cheese, ham and bacon. While Rockit becomes a clubber's late-night meat market, come Sunday brunch hours the place mellows out with a relaxed, mix-aged crowd, cruising the bloody mary bar outfitted with 21 toppings and grooving to live folk and soft rock plucked on acoustical guitar. Outdoor sidewalk seating is available in season.
