Midwest Living Review
Legends is one of the top bars on campus for sports fans, with orange and blue dominating the exterior and sports memorabilia and television screens throughout the spacious interior. It's a good spot to hang out watching a game on TV or to reminisce about games past. A life-size figure of Chief Illiniwek (the former mascot for the Fighting Illini) stands in a glass display case. The walls feature framed photographs of local sports legends such as Lou Henson, as well as few historic items, such as a jersey once worn by Red Grange. A couple of pool tables are in the back area, but most of the space is taken up with booths, tables and the long bar in the center of the room. The drinks include big-name beers, with a few imports. Sam Adams, Fat Tire and Tsingtao are about as daring as the selection goes. Legends also serves bar food, including hamburgers and a popular fish sandwich.Like Murphy's Pub down the street, Legends is a bar where people other than students will probably feel comfortable having a drink or a meal, even if they're older than the university crowd. And it's an especially strong draw for sports fans.Sandwiches, salads and personal-size pizzas cost around $7.
