Cafe Kopi

This coffee shop has quirky decor, including a Buddha draped with Mardi Gras beads perched on the wall behind the counter presiding over the list of teas. That sense of humor extends to the menu; one recent special sandwich was called the Cool Ham Cuke. Slices of cucumber and orange float in the pitchers of free water on the counter. The drinks and dishes are written out on chalkboard and include specialties such as the espresso Cubano, a rich espresso blended with cane sugar; the con leche, foamed cappuccino with Cuban shots (which tasted deliciously creamy on ice); the Oreo frappe; and blackberry lemonade. Open since 1993, Kopi expanded into the adjacent space to double in 2010. The tables on the sidewalk out in front are a great place for hanging out. Sandwiches cost around $5, and drinks are around $2.
