Midwest Living Review
This movie house in downtown Champaign originally opened in 1913, when it was called the Park Theatre. In the 1980s, the Art began focusing on independent and foreign cinema, a tradition it has kept, even as it went through changes in ownership and management in recent years. The Art Theatre shows the sorts of films usually seen only in big metropolitan areas -- critically acclaimed films from other countries and even revivals of old-time classics such as "Some Like It Hot." Beginning in early 2010, the Art began serving alcohol and offering healthier concessions, while adding late-night screenings.
