Midwest Living Review
Heavy oak barn doors open to reveal a trove of antiques inside this lovely limestone building. There's nothing old or musty about the Alton Antique Center. The owners carefully and creatively arrange their merchandise in vignettes throughout the space. Fish-related items are grouped together, for example, resting on hutches that have fishing nets cast over them. A row of round-globe gas street lamps lead shoppers into the Portobello Road area filled with British antiques. It all helps makes sense of the volume of goods here and adds a touch of whimsy, too. A large-print price tag lists age and other pertinent information on each item in the store.
