Nebraska's Oregon Trail
For an overnight outing or several days, your family can join a wagon train that travels the Oregon Trail. The wagons depart from base camp in Bayard (18 miles east of Scottsbluff).
Terry Murphy and Rick Bayne supply gear and make the experience as authentic as possible, except for the steak dinners on longer trips and the chemical toilets. "After all," Kevin says, "you're on vacation."
You take turns riding horseback and in wooden-wheeled prairie schooners. At night, everyone gathers around the campfire for trail tales or square dancing.
