Walnut Grove, Minn.

The Ingalls family lived here less than three years when Laura was a child, but they had a lasting impact on Walnut Grove.

The town hosts a Wilder pageant, an outdoor dramatization of Laura's life, every July. You also can tour the primitive dugout where the family lived for awhile, browse the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum and even drive the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Highway.

On the website, you'll find directions to and pictures of the Ingalls homestead. There also are pageant pictures and information about other area attractions, plus dining, lodging and shopping lists. Links on the site take you to several more Wilder web pages. There's even a link for a sod-house bed and breakfast where you can experience one night as Laura did during her pioneer childhood.
