Illinois: Wildlife Prairie State Park

Families don't flock to Wildlife Prairie (10 miles west of Peoria) for the grass-and-trees scenery. They come for the animals: cougars, black bears, wolves, foxes and bison, all behind fences, but within hear-'em-breathing distance. Most of the park's extras (including a choo-choo train and 58-foot slide) target kids, but even adults will get a kick out of the daily bison-feeding. (309) 676-0998
