Midwest Living Review
Tulsa’s River Parks provide 26 miles of asphalt trails to explore along the Arkansas River, or head to Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness for 45 miles of more rugged terrain. Special events throughout the year include Wednesday Night Rides, concerts, festivals, and running and cycling competitions.
We checked out free bikes at 19th and Riverside through Tulsa Townies (tulsa-townies.com) and pedaled up to the Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza (which celebrates the founding father of Route 66) before heading the opposite direction to the Pedestrian Bridge at 29th and Riverside. Along the way, we passed playgrounds, sculptures, picnic areas and benches in scenic spots. Separate biking and walking/jogging lanes are an especially nice feature if you’re used to having to share lanes.
Go to the River Parks website for maps of the system, and find alternate bike-return locations at the Tulsa Townies website.
