This slightly sweet, slightly spicy sauce goes great with fresh vegetables. Serve it for a snack or as an appetizer.

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 green onions, cut up
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons finely grated fresh ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce
  • Chopped peanuts (optional)
  • Assorted vegetables (such as red pepper strips, cherry tomatoes, radishes, baby carrots, sugar snap peas, celery and cucumber sticks, or blanched broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, and green beans or haricots verts)

  1. In a food processor or blender, combine peanut butter, hoisin sauce, water, green onions, lime juice, soy sauce, ginger and hot pepper sauce. Cover and process or blend until smooth. Add additional water, if necessary, to thin the sauce to a dipping consistency. Transfer to bowl. Cover and chill up to 48 hours. To serve, top with peanuts, if you like, and serve with vegetables. Makes about 1-1/2 cups (12, 2-tablespoon servings).
