This lemonade calls for less sugar than most recipes and tastes just enough like cream soda to make you smile. The recipe comes from The Watkins Company, a 151-year-old spice and extract company in Minnesota.

    Simple Syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Sparkling Vanilla Lemonade
  • 3/4 cup simple syrup (For sweeter lemonade add up to 1 cup of simple syrup)
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (from 6-8 lemons)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 liter chilled sparking water or club soda
  • Lemon slices (optional garnish)

  1. Simple Syrup In small saucepan, stir together 1 cup water and sugar. Simmer water and sugar over medium heat 4 to 6 minutes or until sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let stand 10 minutes. Transfer to jar or container with airtight lid and refrigerate until completely cool. Keeps in refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  2. Sparkling Vanilla Lemonade In pitcher, stir together simple syrup, lemon juice, pure vanilla extract, and liter of chilled sparking water. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh lemon slices and raspberries, if desired.
