Ingredients

  • 1 recipe sourdough bread, shaped into a 10- to 12-inch round flat loaf and baked, or one 12-1/2-ounce (12-inch) Italian flat bread (focaccia)
  • 1/4 cup bottled creamy garlic salad dressing
  • 8 ounces thinly sliced hard salami
  • 4 plum tomatoes (Roma), thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces thinly sliced provolone cheese
  • 1 7 - ounce jar roasted red sweet peppers, drained
  • 8 ounces thinly sliced ham
  • 4 romaine lettuce

Directions

  1. Slice the bread in half horizontally. Toast the cut sides on a hot griddle, in a large skillet or under the broiler.
  2. Spread creamy garlic salad dressing on the cut side of the bottom half of loaf. Arrange over dressing in following order: salami, tomatoes, provolone cheese, roasted sweet peppers, ham and romaine leaves. Cover with remaining half loaf, cut side down. Cut sandwich into wedges.

  • Nutrition Note: To reduce sodium, use lower-sodium meats, less cheese and lower-sodium salad dressing.
