Inspired by a recipe from our Test Kitchen director's mother, this simple strawberry sauce is bursting with real-fruit flavor -- and isn't that what we want on our ice cream or pound cake?


  • 2 1/4 cups fresh strawberries, divided
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (such as Cointreau) (optional)


  1. Coarsely chop about half the strawberries and set aside in a bowl. In a blender or food processor, puree the remaining strawberries with the jam and, if desired, the orange liqueur (such as Cointreau). Pour the mixture over the chopped berries and stir gently to coat.


  • Cover and chill up to 1 week.
