Pear Caramel with Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 pears, peeled if desired, cored and chopped
- 2 to 3 tablespoons rum, brandy, desired-flavor liqueur or apple juice
- 2 pints vanilla ice cream
Directions
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat; stir in sugar until well combined. Add pears; cook and gently stir over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes or until pears are tender. Turn heat down if mixture begins to boil rapidly. Stir in rum. Spoon warm pear sauce over ice cream. Serve immediately. Makes 6 servings.
