Fresh Cranberry-Apple Relish

This fresh alternative to canned cranberry sauce is flecked with festive green pistachios and flavored with cinnamon and nutmeg. Serve it with turkey (of course!), or pan-fried pork chops.
fresh cranberries (2 cups)
sweet crisp apple (such as Braeburn, Gala, Pink Lady, Honey Crisp or Jazz), cored and cut up
packed brown sugar
freshly grated nutmeg*
chopped roasted, salted pistachios
- In a food processor, combine cranberries, apple, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Cover and pulse with several on/off turns until finely chopped. Cover and chill at least 1 hour before serving, or chill up to 2 days. Stir in pistachios before serving.
- * If you use purchased ground nutmeg, decrease to 1/8 teaspoon.
