Old-Fashioned Molasses Cookies

molasses

all-purpose flour

dairy sour cream

Powdered Sugar Icing (see recipe below)
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat butter or margarine with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
- Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and cloves. Beat until combined, scraping bowl. Beat in molasses and eggs until combined.
- Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in remaining flour. Stir baking soda into sour cream. Stir sour cream mixture into flour mixture (batter will be sticky).
- Use a 1/4 cup measure or scoop to drop mounds of dough about 4 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets.
- Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 9 to 12 minutes or until cookies spring back when touched lightly with your finger. Dont overbake. Cool on wire racks. Frost with icing. Makes 16 cookies.
Powdered Sugar Icing
Ingredients

sifted powdered sugar
- 1
tablespoon
milk
- 1/2
teaspoon
vanilla
Directions
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup sifted powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until the mixture is spreading consistency.
