- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 16 ounce package frozen unsweetened blackberries or 3 cups fresh blackberries
- 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

Dot butter pieces over blackberries. Place pastry on blackberries. Sprinkle the 1 tablespoon sugar over pastry.
3. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until blackberry filling is bubbly and pastry is golden. Cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm. Makes 6 servings.
