Crispy treats from the slow cooker? Absolutely! Peanut butter, marshmallows and butter melt together beautifully under low heat.

Ingredients

  • 2 10 - ounce packages tiny marshmallows
  • 6 tablespoons butter, cut up
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 8 cups chocolate-flavored crisp rice cereal
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped dry roasted peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon shortening
  • 2 ounces peanut butter-flavored pieces, melted
  • 2 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted

Directions

  1. Butter the inside of a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker. In the prepared cooker combine marshmallows, the 6 tablespoons butter, and peanut butter.
  2. Cover and cook on low about 1 1/2 hours or until smooth, stirring every 30 minutes. Add cereal and peanuts, stirring gently to combine.
  3. Using buttered hands or a buttered 1/4-cup cookie scoop, scoop and shape mixture into 36 balls; place on a buttered sheet of foil. Let stand at room temperature until firm and no longer sticky, about 30 minutes.
  4. Stir shortening into melted peanut butter-flavored pieces until smooth.
  5. Drizzle treats with melted peanut butter sauce and melted chocolate. Sprinkle with additional finely chopped peanuts, if desired. Let stand until set.
