You can taste the banana in these rich and chocolatey pops, but the fruit is really there to give the treat a fabulously fudgy texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup half and half or light cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 ounces semisweet or milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mashed ripe banana (1 large)

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the half-and-half and sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally until mixture is very hot but not boiling. (Or heat half-and-half and sugar for 1 to 11/2 minutes in a 4-cup glass measuring cup in the microwave.) Add chocolate; let stand without stirring for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir chocolate mixture to combine. Stir in banana. Divide among 8 to 10 3-ounce pop molds. Insert sticks and freeze overnight.

Tip

  • Prep Note If you don't have molds, pour the mixture into 3-ounce paper cups, cover them with heavy-duty foil (or a double layer of foil), then insert wooden sticks and freeze. Tear off the paper and foil, then slurp away.
