Whip up this sweet and juicy sauce for the perfect ice cream or pie topping.

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

  1. In saucepan combine sugar, cornstarch and salt; stir in water and lemon juice and mix well. Add blueberries. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until mixture is slightly thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes more.
  2. Transfer to bowl; cool. Serve at room temperature. Or chill, covered, up to 2 days. If chilled, let stand at room temperature 30 minutes before serving. Makes 3 cups.

Easy and good. I make this every 4th for red (strawberry topping), white (ice cream and whipped cream) and blue sundaes.
