Date-Orange Bars

pitted whole dates, snipped

Orange Icing (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8x8x2-inch baking pan; set aside. In a medium mixing bowl combine eggs, orange juice, and butter. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in dates and walnuts. Toss lightly with a fork to coat dates and nuts with the flour mixture. Stir in egg mixture until well combined.
- Spread mixture into prepared pan. Bake about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool the bar cookies in the baking pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars. If desired, drizzle bars with Orange Icing. Makes 16 bars.
Orange Icing
Ingredients

sifted powdered sugar

teaspoons
frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed, or orange juice
Directions
- In a small bowl stir together powdered sugar and orange juice concentrate, or orange juice. Stir until a drizzling consistency.
