Sesame Seed-Crusted Tuna Appetizer
Cook: 3 mins
Ingredients
- 1 6 to 8 ounce fresh or frozen ahi tuna steak, cut 1-inch thick
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil, optional
- 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon black or white sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fried Wonton Chips (see recipe)
- 2 cups fresh baby greens
- Wasabi Aioli (see recipe)
- 1 tablespoon pickled sushi ginger, cut into thin strips (optional)
Directions
1. Thaw fish, if frozen. Rinse fish; pat dry with paper towels. Cut fish into 1-inch cubes. If you like, coat cubes with sesame oil. In a shallow dish, combine white and black sesame seeds. Roll fish cubes in sesame seed mixture.
2. In a large skillet cook fish cubes in hot olive oil over medium-high heat for 3 to 5 minutes or until browned on all sides and fish flakes easily when tested with a fork, but is still slightly pink in the center. Remove from skillet; let cool slightly. Cut fish into slices.
3. To serve, place Fried Wonton Chips on a serving platter. Top with each chip with greens, fish slices, Wasabi Aioli, and pickled ginger, if you like. Serve immediately. Pass any remaining Wasabi Aioli. Makes 4 appetizer servings.
