If you're looking for high-end lodging in the quiet corners of Hocking Hills—especially with a large group in tow—check out the lineup of vacation homes from Buffalo Lodging. Run hands-on by a husband-and-wife team who grew up in the area, the operation offers multiple cabins and homes scattered throughout the forested backroads of the area, providing lodging for anywhere from four to 32 people in each location. Several of the large homes cluster within walking distance of each other, accommodating up to 100 or so guests.
The large facilities we visited have amenities that make for a fun stay: heated pools, hot tubs, pool tables, high-end grills on the patio and theater rooms with 10-foot screens. We found these residences (most built within the past five years or so) well-kept and the owners responsive and helpful. Several of the larger lodges sit on a property that features hiking trails and a zip-line course (guests get a reduced price). If you're traveling with a group, Buffalo Lodging provides one of the most enjoyable stays in Hocking Hills, and the price is affordable when you split a $400 nightly rate among something like four families.
