Cedar Rock Inn was originally built in 1890 by Creek Nation allottee Tecumseh Perryman; the current owners spent six years renovating before opening it as a B&B in 2005. Five comfortable, rustic-style guestrooms (nightly rates from $149) have thoughtful details like private porches, claw-foot tubs and boxes of creamy fudge on the pillows. The first floor houses a gathering room and bar where visitors can enjoy a glass of wine; the dining area, where fresh cookies and other snacks are available in the afternoon; a small gift shop; and a library filled with books, DVDs and games.
Dine on chef-prepared breakfasts at individual tables—a nice touch for travelers who don’t want to socialize with strangers first thing in the morning. Ours was a fabulous three-course combo with fresh fruit to start; orange essence pancakes with almond tuile topping; and an Indian triad croquette (sweet potato, corn and beans) topped with Mexican chorizo sausage, a poached egg, ancho lime hollandaise and fresh tomato jam. Yum!
The grounds feature a pond and fountain out front, a patio with cascading waterfall in the rear, and plenty of seating in scenic spots. A hike behind the inn leads to views over the area.
