With colorful decor, floor-to-ceiling swings and treats galore, it’s impossible not to feel like a kid again at Molly’s Cupcakes. Even the backstory here is sweet: the owner named his store after “Miss Molly,” a third-grade teacher who baked cupcakes for her students on their birthdays. (Kindly, he also donates a portion of his profits to local schools in her honor.)
Ordering a cupcake at Molly’s is no simple matter. Guests can create a mini Molly ($1.25) or full-size Molly ($2) or ask for a ready-to-eat filled cupcake ($3). The ability to have your cake just the way you want it—and eat it, too—is a huge attraction. Pick a cupcake flavor—chocolate, vanilla, red velvet or carrot—and frosting—chocolate, vanilla, cream cheese, buttercream or brown butter. Additional toppings like gummy bears or chocolate chips cost a quarter or two more, or you can gussy things up by visiting the sprinkle station at the back of the store free of charge.
The list of center-filled cupcakes is extensive and mouthwatering; creative favorites include the Ron Bennington, which is chocolate cake, peanut butter filling, chocolate ganache and crushed butterscotch topping. Molly’s will do full-sized cakes by special order; vegan and gluten-free cupcake options are also available.
