Hotel Rome lacks the polish of some of the other big Dells resorts, but it delivers decent off-season deals and plenty of kitschy, quirky year-round family fun. With connecting access to the indoor water park, Hotel Rome is just one of several Mt. Olympus “villages” accounting for 1,030 guest accommodations. (Expect rooms to feature Poseidon wallpaper, laminate floors, and bunk beds with sides and steps inspired by waterwheels.) Because hotel dining choices are limited, in-room fridges and microwaves are a thoughtful amenity for light meals or breakfast.
It’s all about the rides, slides and go-karts at this Greco Roman-theme resort, and Mt. Olympus excels at providing thrills and splash-worthy fun within easy walking distance of Hotel Rome. A Mousetrap-style roller coaster dominates the Parthenon indoor amusement park, which sits across the parking lot from the hotel and includes laser tag, a rock-climbing wall, arcade games, a go-kart track, a play area and lots of small-scale rides. Most families spend more time at the water park, with its body slides, tube slides, a lazy river, whirlpools, activity pool and a toddler play area anchored by a shipwreck.
Nightly rates start from $89 in the winter and $109 in the summer; overnight stays include four wristbands for park admission (additional park passes can be purchased for $20 each).
