Through its country store McCormick Distilling Company continues a tradition of sharing premium alcohol, which began in Weston more than 150 years ago.
Ben Holladay decided natural limestone springs in this area would be a perfect for creating great whiskey and began his distillery, in 1856. Today, visitors can get a 'taste' of McCormick Distilling Company's product line at the McCormick Country Store. Currently operating on Main Street, the shop features a tasting bar where each adult customer can sample two McCormick products per visit, for 25 cents apiece. Selections from the company's four-year-old eco-friendly line of 360 Vodka included 'glazed donut,' which actually tasted like a donut paired with a bit of alcoholic bite. Double Chocolate vodka had subtle chocolate flavor. Offered in tall glass bottles, other 360 flavors included Georgia Peach, and Madagascar Vanilla, as well as Sorrento Lemon and Huckleberry. The small store basically functions as a liquor store, with a wide array of alcohol mini-bottles that lined a shelf system in the center of the room, in addition to full-size bottles along an outer wall. A small collection of Elvis decanters were displayed within several feet below the gorgeous, dark green restored tin ceiling. The distilling company had created a souvenir bottle to celebrate Weston's 175th birthday, in 2012, with plenty of T-shirts and logo glassware available as well. This liquor store offers great flavor and variety with a side of local history.
